3S MEP provided comprehensive Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design services for a cannabis dispensary located in Pekin, Illinois. Due to the specialized operational and regulatory requirements associated with cannabis facilities, the project required targeted engineering solutions to address odor control, indoor air quality, occupant comfort, and code compliance.

A key design consideration was the mitigation of cannabis-related odors within the occupied spaces. The existing HVAC system was modified to incorporate activated carbon pleated filtration specifically rated to neutralize sulfur-based compounds commonly associated with cannabis products. This enhanced filtration strategy effectively controlled odor migration while maintaining proper airflow and indoor air quality.

The HVAC system was engineered to provide precise temperature control, effective air circulation, and adequate ventilation throughout the dispensary. Advanced HVAC design strategies were employed to ensure seamless system integration, reliable performance, and compliance with applicable building codes, while also prioritizing energy efficiency and occupant comfort.

In addition to mechanical systems, 3S MEP designed the domestic water and sanitary waste systems to fully support dispensary operations. The plumbing design carefully accounted for fixture demand, drainage requirements, and operational reliability, resulting in a coordinated and code-compliant solution tailored to the facility’s specific needs.
