3S MEP’s CFD engineers have years of experience in fluid dynamics problem solving through numerical methods and algorithms. In 3S MEP we are proud to offer our specialist services in CFD modeling tailor-made for HVAC and comfort ventilation.
Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology, we can finely tune your HVAC installation to meet specific requirements before even mounting a single piece of equipment onboard your ship.
CFD enables us to realistically simulate air flows within the project space in advance. As a result, we can accurately predict where deficiencies in the HVAC system may occur, such as drafts, high levels of turbulence, high-pressure drop, and poor air distribution.
CFD considers everything from the influence of sunlight to the layout of the rooms and the placement of air vents around furnishings, resulting in a comfort analysis and/or product validation. The goal is to figure out the best air circulation solutions for the specific project space.
Wind Load
We use CFD simulation to assess the overall wind load affecting buildings in the most extreme conditions or for different wind speeds and directions. With multiple buildings in a block the flow of wind can accelerate, producing localized wind gusts at the pedestrian level. This variable, and others, needs to be calculated already in the design phase.
Mechanical Ventilation
Mechanical, or forced ventilation, is a type of HVAC system where a combination of blowers, ducts, fans, or filters, etc. are used to bring and remove air from a space. This type of ventilation is very effective in controlling air quality, humidity, and temperature.
