MEP designs for this project at a Genesis dealership were complicated by the extensive glass walls and the aesthetic requirements of a dealership for luxury cars.

The heavy use of glass in the envelope meant that the mechanical team from 3S MEP + Structural had to select a high-efficiency HVAC system to meet the heating/cooling requirements of the building.

The mechanical team also had to meet official “Genesis Retail Design” requirements in coordinating the HVAC equipment and the huge amount of ductwork with the building’s architecture and structure. The ventilation system had to meet IMC 2015 standards.

Two major challenges faced the electrical design team. One was accommodating the heavy electrical load generated by a high-speed electrical car-charging station.

The other was designing the lighting and light control system to account for the glass walls.
Electrical design included layouts for the overall power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.

The plumbing team designed the domestic water, sanitary waste, and stormwater system and selected the oil interceptor, water heater and other equipment to meet code requirements without compromising the aesthetic appeal of the showroom.

With all 3S MEP projects, a primary focus is integrating MEP and structural designs with the construction and architectural partners and the end-users to minimize the need for design adjustments or revisions during the construction process. Design teams from 3S MEP actively engage with all stakeholders to identify potential conflicts and optimize overall system layout. Our teams are exceptionally proficient at harmonizing essential building elements for successful outcomes.
