Designing new MEP systems for existing 3-story apartment building

Category: Multifamily residential
Area: 3,300 sq. ft.

The major design challenge faced by 3S MEP + Structural in the project for the three-story Spring Chase Apartments was in the electrical design, specifically, creating the SLD using the existing electrical service supply and meter center.
The electrical work also covered the power and lighting layouts and a panel schedule.
For the HVAC system, 3S MEP conducted a heat load calculation to determine the heating and cooling requirements of the building. The team selected the air handling units and heat pump equipment and designed the duct systems to distribute conditioned air throughout the apartments.
Plumbing design included a sanitary system, cold/hot water distribution, and riser diagrams. The team’s calculations were also used in selecting the electric water heaters and expansion tanks.
With all 3S MEP projects, a primary focus is integrating MEP and structural designs with the construction and architectural partners and the end-users to minimize the need for design adjustments or revisions during the construction process. Design teams from 3S MEP actively engage with all stakeholders to identify potential conflicts and optimize overall system layout. Our teams are exceptionally proficient at harmonizing essential building elements for successful outcomes.
