Re-engineering a school building to meet the needs of a yoga center

When a former school was to be transformed into the Yoga Center in Fountain Hills, Arizona, the building’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems had to be re-engineered to meet the specialized needs of a yoga room, shower rooms, and an auditorium.

The Yoga Center underwent a transformation from a school to a specialized yoga facility. The project’s main goal was to design and implement efficient and effective mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to cater to the new requirements.

A major design imperative faced by 3S MEP + Structural was precise temperature control in what would be the hot yoga room. Temperatures must be closely monitored to reach suitable heat levels.

Humidity sensing control fans were needed for shower and pod rooms where, again, precision was necessary to enhance the yoga experience for the center’s visitors.

Significant cost savings resulted when 3S MEP was able to rebalance existing ductwork and RTUs in the auditorium. The new ventilation demands were met without compromising air quality and comfort.

The electrical design included a comprehensive lighting layout to ensure ample illumination throughout the facility and create the desired serene and welcoming ambiance.

Our team devised a layout that would deliver ample power to all the various lighting and equipment components.

The plumbing design, covering both water and sanitary systems, was designed to guarantee comfort and convenience for the center.
